Founder & CEO
Dr. Vanessa Haley-Benjamin is a marine biotechnologist and conservationist whose PhD research pioneered molluscan cell and tissue cultures for cultivated seafood and marine collagen production. A New Harvest Fellow with 20+ years of leadership in marine science, policy, and fundraising, she bridges cutting-edge biotechnology with regenerative ocean stewardship.

Scientific Advisor
Dr. Gary Caldwell, Senior Lecturer in Applied Marine Biology at Newcastle University, brings over two decades of expertise in marine biotechnology, bioactive discovery, and sustainable bioprocess engineering. As Principal Scientific Advisor, he guides the platform’s R&D toward scalable, eco-aligned innovation in next-generation seafood and marine collagen biotechnologies.

Principal Scientific Advisor
Dr. Katarzyna Piróg is an Associate Professor in Musculoskeletal Genetics at Newcastle University, specialising in the biomechanics and pathobiology of complex tissues. Her research into how cells sense and react to changes in the extracellular matrix provides critical insights for our 3D microtissue development. She brings advanced expertise in molecular biology and disease models to optimise the structural integrity of our cultivated marine products.
James
Scientific Advisor
Dr James Henstock was previously the Senior Scientist at Vow, where he led research into scalable production strategies for cultivated meat. Currently an Associate Professor in Bioengineering, his expertise in 3D culture and bioreactor engineering is central to our platform. He specialises in designing active culture environments and using additive manufacturing to create functioning prototypes for cellular agriculture.

Christopher Bunting is an experienced life sciences entrepreneur and investor with an extensive background in commercial leadership and strategic marketing. As Business Advisor, he leverages his expertise in startup operations, launch planning, and organisational build to guide our commercialisation strategy.
